Trail Ride through the wilderness of Running Horse Ranch

      For all riders at first:
Required for all our rides is to work and build a rider- horse relation ship! For this experience we begin with all our new riders in our horse arena.
This will help riding guests to connect to their mounts and prepare for their upcoming adventure in a remote and rugged wilderness!

Meet your horse in our arena. Before you mount, we will instruct you at first on which cues your horse easily respond. Practice rein management, ride around barrels, over poles, trot, maybe canter and back your horse up. Testing out all those skills, will bond and prepare you for a great ride out on the trail. We’ll make sure saddle/ stirrups fits your seat properly, and you feel safe.

      Afterwards we hit the trails.

This ride will take you out on some exotic single track trails at the ranch. Balanced riders, with a firm seat will go out for some faster pace, climb mountains, riding switchbacks, river beds, ravines. This trail is loaded with nature obstacles and accompanied by great and grand views. It will challenge a riders seat position, riders which are not so confident will learn- while receiving patient instructions to overcome their fear.

With some luck we maybe watching some wildlife, like deer, mountain lion or a eagle flying in the sky.

Every barn has some rules on how to approach and treat horses. We have our own way, and we require all our first-time riders to follow our rules to partner up with your assigned horse. A guide will instruct/ educate you at first on the ground/ and in the saddle while presenting you with a detailed set off riding cues before you mount. All riders will work the horses short on the ground, to prepare a bond, before we allow them to mount. After you sit in the saddle all riders, practice the walk, trot, backing up, as well as rain cues, riding around cones and barrels! This process will take half an hour of your time, but more importantly, it allows riders to team up with the horses, and the horses with the riders.

Afterward, we head out on the trail.

Arrived on the ridge, we reached 5120 feet; the horses get a moment to relax. Riders will find some scenic, and unique photo opportunity’s viewing a desert landscape and the surrounding foothills.

Once we hit the trailhead of the epic Pacific Crest Trail, this world-famous path leads us through an ancient forest of a mixture of Jeffrey, Ponderosa Pines, Manzanita, Oak Trees, while crossing some magical meadows.
