Location of Running Horse Ranch

Running Horse Ranch nestled in beautiful  Southern California

Running Horse Ranch locates in the rugged Angeles National Forest, a relatively short drive from Los Angeles. We are only a little bit over an hour away from famous Hollywood, as well as many other city attractions. The I 5 Freeway allows us easy access to be tour guides for our guests, and navigate our way to a lot of tourist attractions in the area. The drive up to the Ranch is very scenic and easy.

Plan to ride with us during the morning, enjoy sightseeing trips in the afternoon.

Please do not use your GPS in your car! It will take you through a twisting mountain road, to reach the ranch.

BELOW YOU”LL FIND A MAP AND DETAILED DRIVING DIRECTION!

Running Horse Ranch surroundings offers a world loaded of natural wonders…

We enjoy a mediterranean climate in our region. A higher elevation, near the coast keeps us significantly cooler. Often we ride trough different seasons. It could be on the ranch early summer, while on top of the mountain ridges it is still late spring! So it is not surprising that the bloom of a species of plants is over and gone on the ranch( 4000 feet elevation), but we find this same particular plant up on the mountain tops (5700 feet) still in full bloom, or coming in bloom.

The San Andreas Fault line runs right underneath Pine Canyon Road. It separates the ranch from the North American Plate. The ranch is bedded on the Pacific Plate.

Plants and trees competing hard to survive, since it is rarely raining in Southern California. Tall pine, spruce and cedar tress are home in our higher elevations. Often they cover the mountain ridges, which is for riding, hiking, or biking inviting- even during heatwaves. Other plants are tall oak shrubs, and the very attractive manzanita trees, which are very eye catching with their red, or orange, shiny, smooth, velvet feeling bark and  smooth, blue -greenish shiny leaves.

A rich animal kingdom brings life to this wilderness, we meet dear almost every day, foxes very regularly( red fox, silver fox), skunks, bobcat, puma, bear rarely, coyotes,  every day ground squirls and tree squirls, snakes, lizards, huge black tailed hares, blue jays, quails, big black crows, eagle, hawk, vulture and condor. We love our animal neighbors and share with our guests who could live where, or whome we maybe could meet, wether on the trail or ranch sightings!

Peaceful Nature and a City which never Sleeps!

Running Horse Ranch location is sitting remotely on the east- north side of the giant Angeles Forest.

Guest of the ranch hopping on the modern I5 Freeway and access fast and scenic the world-class city of Los Angeles. Ride in the morning and head out in the afternoon, visit Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Universal Studios or Disneyland. Endless choices are yours!
